The Glen Ridge Police Department is actively investigating a burglary that occurred at 3 a.m.at a Linden Avenue residence.According to a statement obtained by Glen Ridge Police Lt. Timothy Farand, the intruders gained entry through an unlocked window, stole the key fob from inside the home, and subsequently absconded with the homeowner's vehicle parked in the driveway.
Lt. Farand said this incident is part of a broader trend across the state, where luxury vehicles, especially BMW SUVs, are being targeted.
Since January, Glen Ridge has reported two similar cases in which burglars entered homes between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. to steal vehicle keys. Investigations reveal that the culprits arrive in unmarked vehicles, Lt. Farand said.
“Although there appears to be no direct link between the incidents, several suspects from previous burglaries have been identified”. Lt. Timothy Faranda
The Glen Ridge Detective Bureau continues its investigation to apprehend those responsible.
Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, secure their homes and vehicles, and keep key fobs out of sight.
Police also encourage the public to report any suspicious activities or individuals and to contact them if they feel unsafe, ensuring a prompt response from officers to check the area.
