The Essex County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a Glen Ridge man who reportedly drove to Newark to purchase drugs from a man who officers also took into custody.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura stated that Bureau of Narcotics detectives were conducting a surveillance operation in the 100 block of Isabella Avenue when they observed a car pull up to the area and what appeared as a drug transaction take place.
According to officials say they watched Mr. Kyle Flippin, 29 of Glen Ridge, stopped his car up at that location and first engage in conversation with the alleged drug dealer Mr. Reginald Richardson, 39 of Newark.
Police said Richardson then walked down the driveway, opened the utility box and removed an item that he apparently hid there then subsequently exchange the item for cash with Flippin.
According to police, minutes later, Kyle Flippin, 29 of Glen Ridge, stopped his car up at that location and engaged Richardson in conversation. Richardson subsequently exchanged the item for cash then Flippin drove away.
Detectives followed Flippin and conducted a motor vehicle stop where officers say they saw a small plastic marijuana-filled bag on the car’s center console.
Police immediately took Flippin into custody and charged him with possession of CDS and issued a summons for having CDS in a motor vehicle.
Police say Richardson drove away from the scene in an Acura sedan but was also stopped a few blocks away, where they found him in possession of 40 grams and an additional 60 grams of what they believe is out-of-state medical marijuana found inside the vehicle after a search.
Authorities charged Richardson with the sale of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of CDS and possession of CDS with intent to distribute. Also, police issued Richardson a summons for having CDS in a motor vehicle and for driving while on the suspended list.
Both men were released on their own recognizance an given April 24th court dates police said.
