A Gloucester County jury on Mar. 27th found a 48-year-old Glassboro man guilty of stalking a Monroe Township woman he didn’t know.
According to authorities, Bruce V. Davis had an encounter with the victim in September 2016 when he asked her for water allied because his throat was dry from a medication he was taken.
The victim stated that she gave Davis her e-mail address after he offered a work opportunity, but it ultimately did not interest her.
However, the victim testified that Davis reappeared at her home, unwanted several times and would often send her unsolicited e-mail messages. According to the woman, Davis would come to her house in a rental truck a few times a week for two or three weeks but eventually stopped when he was warned by police.
According to records, Davis reappeared in February 2017.
The victim testified that she was fearful because Davis was much bigger than her, she had two young children and she did not know what he was capable of.
Senior Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Dana Anton told jury that Davis committed the offense with a course of conduct that instilled fear. It’s clear he became fixated and failed to respect boundaries between himself and a stranger.
Officials said Davis - who has been jailed since his arrest in March 2017 - was charged with stalking is a fourth-degree crime with a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison. According to officials, Davis will receive credit for that incarceration when sentenced. Superior Court Judge Kevin T. Smith set sentencing for May 25.
Following the jury verdict, Judge Smith also said he would sign a restraining order barring Davis from contact with the Monroe Township woman.
