A 16-year-old girl was seriously injured when she attempted to cross a road and was hit by a car in Roselle Park Tuesday afternoon, police said.
According to police, on Jan. 23rd at approximately 5:28 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Beechwood Avenue and W. Lincoln Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian who was struck.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Ford - operated by a 59-year-old male from Roselle Park - was traveling southbound on Beechwood Avenue when the car struck the girl who was crossing the roadway.
Union County EMS transported the girl to University Hospital in Newark suffering serious injuries. Police said the girl is currently in stable condition.
The accident is under investigation by the Roselle Park Police Traffic Unit and Detective Bureau.
