Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of Safet Cajevic, 55, of Garfield, on narcotics-related offenses.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Cajevic was distributing controlled dangerous substances in the area of Garfield.
Authorities said based on this information; they initiated an investigation.
Members of the Bergen County Narcotics Task Force, the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Garfield Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant at Cajevic's Garfield residence on April 28, 2017.
As a result of the search warrant, officers seized cocaine along with drug paraphernalia associated with the distribution of cocaine from his residence.
Authorities charged Cajevic with the following offenses: one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, -namely Cocaine- in a quantity of less than one-half ounce.
The charged him with one count of possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia; and one count of purposely preventing or attempting to prevent a public servant from lawfully performing an official function by means of force, violence, and physical interference.
Cajevic is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on May 24, 2017, at 8:30 a.m.
