Fundraiser to Raise Awarness to Water Conditions in Flint, Newark Scheduled

Officials will announce that the City will host the Hip-Hop 4 Flint fund-raiser to help provide 250 households in Flint, Michigan, with high quality water filtration systems at a press conference on Wednesday, March 30, at Noon, in the First Floor Rotunda, at City Hall, located at 920 Broad Street.

Hip-Hop 4 Flint will take place on Saturday, April 2, at Robert Treat Hotel, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and is being organized by Du “Doitall” Kelly of the legendary Lords of the Underground, 211 Community Impact, and FORSA Media Group and Newark Riverfront Revival President and CEO Marcy DePina. The Newark event is one of 37 taking place around the country that day to raise funds to support families and households in Flint, Michigan, who are suffering from lead in their water.

In addition, the Saturday Newark event will have a panel discussion entitled “Newark: What’s In Your Water?” to discuss the current lead issues in the water in Newark Public Schools.

The Newark fundraiser is being hosted in partnership with the City of Newark, the Water Commission, Youth Ambassadors, Newark Riverfront Revival, 211 Community Impact, GrassROOTS Community Foundation, Newark Office of Film and Television, Hycide Magazine, The Newark Times, Essex County College Urban Issues Institute, Ironbound Community Corporation, Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey, Lincoln Park Coastal Community Development, Dynomyte Films, Clean Water Action, EMQ Entertainment, Earth Tones Music, and the New Jersey Environmental Alliance.
