Frigid, Windy Saturday Ahead for Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Newark residents are waking up to a frigid Saturday morning as temperatures hover below freezing at 6 a.m.

Despite the sunny skies ahead, the cold will persist, and strong winds will make it feel significantly colder throughout the day.

The National Weather Service reports that gusts could reach up to 40 mph, creating wind chills between 15 and 25 degrees.

The day will bring a chance of flurries, but no significant snow accumulation is expected.Ad“Bundle up and dress in layers if you’re heading out,” the National Weather Service advised. “The sunshine won’t do much to warm things up.”

Today's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 36 degrees, while tonight, the chance of flurries will diminish before 8 p.m., leaving partly cloudy conditions and a low of around 25 degrees.

As Newark and the surrounding region continue to experience below-seasonal temperatures, residents are encouraged to stay warm and cautious, especially during outdoor activities.
