Residents of Newark and North Jersey are waking up to another bone-chilling morning, with temperatures plunging well below freezing.
The National Weather Service reports that Newark is experiencing a wind chill of 0 degrees, while Sussex County faces an icy -9, Morristown at -4, and Prospect Park in Passaic County at -3.
The biting cold is compounded by strong winds, making it crucial for residents to layer up and cover exposed skin to combat the Arctic-like conditions.Despite the frigid start, the region will see some sunshine today, though it will provide little relief from the cold.
According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for today is sunny and cold, with a high near 20 degrees. Wind chill values will range between -5 and 5, keeping the day feeling brutally cold.
Tonight, temperatures will dip further, with mostly cloudy skies and a low of around 13 degrees.
