Newark and North Jersey residents are waking up to a bitterly cold morning, though winds have calmed somewhat following Monday’s blustery conditions.
This morning's temperatures in Newark are 22 degrees Fahrenheit, but wind chill values make it feel like 10 degrees.
In Morristown, it's 19 degrees, with the wind dropping the real-feel temperature to 6 degrees, while Sussex County faces the coldest conditions at 12 degrees, feeling like -1.
Though winds are still gusty, they are not as intense as Monday’s, offering some relief. However, wind chills will remain dangerously low throughout the day.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 29 degrees.
Wind chill values will range between 5 and 15 degrees, with west winds at 14 to 17 mph and gusts reaching up to 37 mph.
By tonight, temperatures will drop even further to around 15 degrees, with wind chills making it feel between 5 and 10 degrees.
Skies will remain mostly clear, keeping conditions dry but frigid.

Residents should bundle up and take precautions against the cold, as subfreezing temperatures and brisk winds continue into the evening hours.
