Newark and the surrounding North Jersey region are waking up to another bitterly cold morning as the area prepares for its second snowfall in less than three days.
While today will remain dry but frigid, forecasters expect snow to return this evening and continue into early Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Newark dipped to 28 degrees this morning, with much of North Jersey experiencing even colder conditions, with readings in the teens.
Despite the dry conditions during the day, residents should prepare for another round of snowfall beginning between 7 and 9 p.m.
The heaviest accumulation is expected further south in New Jersey, but the Newark area is still projected to receive between 1 and 3 inches of snow.

- Today: Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of snow after 4 p.m.. High near 36 degrees, with a light southwest wind at 5 to 7 mph.
- Tonight: Snow expected, mainly before 4 a.m., with temperatures dropping to around 29 degrees. Wind chill values between 20 and 25 degrees, with a light north wind developing at 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation: 90%.
With temperatures remaining low and roads potentially becoming slick overnight, motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution.
