As the final day of January takes place, residents in Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to temperatures hovering around freezing following a cold and windy Thursday.

While a brief warm-up is expected, freezing rain moving in from the west may impact the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, Sussex County is under a Winter Weather Advisory due to the potential for freezing rain, creating hazardous travel conditions.

The day will be marked by cloudy skies and periods of rain, making for a damp and chilly end to the month.
