Firefighters in Newark battled a four alarm fire that ripped through several residential homes in the 200 block of Lafayette Street in the city's Ironbound section this evening.
The fire that began around 10 p.m. at 295 Lafayette Street, quickly spread to three other adjacent houses, displacing more than 25 people.
Heavy fire was observed in the rear of the buildings where firefighters took about two hours to bring the blaze under control.
There were no injuries reported.
