Four-Alarm Fire Destroys Several Homes in Wayne

An investigation is underway into an early morning fire that ripped through a set of townhouses in the city.

Firefighters responded to several calls of a fire that erupted in the 40's block of Mulford Drive shortly before 1:30 a.m.

According to fire officials, the four-alarm fire tore through several townhouses in Wayne early Saturday morning began on the lower levels at 40 Mulford Drive with heavy fire quickly spreading up and the across to neighboring dwellings.

It took firefighters over an hour to bring the blaze under control with no serious injuries reported but several families were displaced.

Firefighters from numerous neighboring departments covered the empty firehouses as all Wayne firefighters operated at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
