Former Rutgers Student Charged in Stabbings

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Kenneth Cop of the Rutgers University Police Department said a former student has been charged with stabbing a faculty member and a student at the Rutgers Business School on the Livingston Campus in Piscataway.

Joshua S. Thompson, 25, of Mountainside was charged with two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Bail has been set at $1 million for Thompson.

The faculty member, the student, and Thompson remain hospitalized at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Thompson was charged after an investigation determined he initiated the stabbings on November 4, 2016.
