Somerset County officials announced the arrest of Larry D. Lee, 32, North Plainfield, in relation to the theft of North Plainfield Rescue Squad funds.
Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson stated that a matter was referred to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office regarding concerns that funds provided to local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) within the County had been allocated to the North Plainfield Rescue Squad during the period of 2014 to 2018 and were being accepted and deposited even after the organization had been disbanded.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigation Unit conducted an investigation into this matter.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Defendant Lee, who was the Captain of the North Plainfield Rescue Squad had been accepting and depositing purchase orders for his own benefit over a five year period totaling $10,000.00 after the emergency medical service organization had been disbanded.
As a result of this investigation, on Wednesday, October 7, Larry D. Lee was arrested and charged with 3rd-degree Theft by Deception at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. Defendant Lee was released pending a future court appearance.
