A former Nets player was arrested Wednesday, after a scuffle with two city officers.
Police responded to the area of Clinton Place Wednesday after several reports of a suspicious person in the area.
Upon arrival, officers approached the suspect - later identified as William "Bill" Willoughby, 58 - who became nervous and tried to run, according to the report.
In a scuffle with Willoughby, police found marijuana on him. He was taken into custody but later released on bail.
He was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer.
The officers suffering shoulder and back injuries were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Willoughby was released from the Nets in 1984.
