Former Kean Administrator Gets $75K Settlement from University

A former Kean University administrator has reached a $75,000 settlement with the school after she filed a lawsuit claiming she was targeted for termination because of her age, gender and race prior to her retirement.

Sherrell S. Holderman, 66, who is African American, claims was fired along with 11 other employees - including six other African Americans, two Hispanic employees and nine others over the age of 40.

In the suit, Holderman said she suffered humiliation, embarrassment, stress and anxiety, loss of self-esteem and self-confidence, as well as emotional pain and suffering after losing her job as director of Kean's PASSPORT program. She was employed with Kean University for the last 30 years.

Kean although agreed to settlement did not admit to any wrongdoing.
