Officials in Middlesex County Prosecutor announced that a former Borough man has been charged for his assault of an adult female.
Officials said Tuesday Mr. Halirou Abdoulaye, 33, of North Carolina and formerly of Highland Park, was arrested for one count of third-degree criminal restraint and one count of disorderly persons simple assault.
According to police, on August 24, 2020, at approximately 9:10 P.M., authorities responded to the area of SouthSecond Avenue and Hill Street following a report of an assault.
Detective Sean McGraw of the Highland Park Police Department and Detective Kevin Schroeck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined Abdoulaye grabbed the victim as she was walking on South Second Street then assaulted and restrained her.
Police said Abdoulaye is presently lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, where he is being held pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.
