Residents in Newark are waking up to a foggy and damp start to the week, as the National Weather Service forecasts a noticeable shift from the weekend's milder conditions.
As of early Monday morning, temperatures in downtown Newark are sitting at 44 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.

A blanket of patchy fog has settled over the region, making for reduced visibility and a chilly, damp atmosphere to begin the day.
While the mercury is expected to rise significantly, reaching a high near 72 degrees, warmer temperatures will come at the cost of rain later in the day.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of showers throughout the afternoon, with heavier rainfall and a possible thunderstorm likely after 5 p.m.
“Areas of fog will linger through about 8 a.m., then we’ll warm up nicely,” NWS forecasters said. “But showers and possible thunderstorms are expected into the evening.”
Monday night’s forecast calls for continued rainfall, with the possibility of a thunderstorm and a low around 43 degrees.
New Jersey residents are encouraged to enjoy the mild temperatures while preparing for wet conditions by evening. As always, use caution when driving in fog or rain and stay updated with local forecasts.
Have a great day, Jersey—and don’t forget your umbrella.
