Middlesex County fire officials are investigating a deadly blaze that broke out this evening at a senior living community in Edison.
The fire, which erupted at Menlo Manor on 1061 Inman Avenue, prompted a massive response from Edison, South Brunswick, and Metuchen fire departments, according to Edison Mayor Sam Joshi.
The incident escalated to a four-alarm fire, with crews working urgently to evacuate residents from the senior center.
On the ground coverage revealed extensive damage to the building, including charred apartments, shattered windows, and rescue operations underway as elderly residents were escorted to safety.
Mayor Joshi confirmed that the fire resulted in at least one fatality.
The investigation into the cause of the blaze remains ongoing as authorities continue their efforts to assess the situation and ensure the safety of the community.
