A fast moving fire that quickly spread inside an apartment in Newark placed firefighters on the scene late last night.
The fire broke out in a second floor apartment located in the 400 block of Washington Street at around 10:20 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they noticed smoke and flames coming from the residence.
Crews were able to contain the blaze to the apartment, ultimately knocking down the fire at around 10:41 p.m.
A female resident was observed by EMS at the scene but suffered no serious injuries.
The woman was reportedly the only displaced resident.
Firefighters were credited for swift response under extreme road conditions and extinguishing the blaze before it spread to nearby apartments.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
