Fire officials in Elizabeth are investigating a fire that damaged home in the city this afternoon.
Crews responded to a report of a basement fire that ignited in the 100 block of Inslee Place shortly after 2 p.m.
Upon arrival, crews encountered smoke coming from the eaves of the roof with reports of two occupants who were missing.
During an initial search of the home, firefighters did not find anyone inside nor a fire in the basement.
However, firefighters discovered a fire in the walls of the home.
The fire was held to a single alarm leaving at least one firefighter suffering unknown injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
