A raging two-alarm fire that ignited inside a house in Irvington sent several firefighters to the hospital overnight.
Fire broke out 732 Lyons Avenue at around 11:00 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they observed heavy fire coming from the roof of the structure.
Mutual assistance from Newark, East Orange, Maplewood, and Orange were able to contain the fire in about an hour but not before at least three firefighters were transported to the hospital where they suffered non-life threatening injuries.
A search of the vacant structure had no trapped or injured occupants.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
