Wayne

By: Jeff Sommes

A house fire in Wayne resulted in injuries to two firefighters on Saturday night.

Health Emergency crews were called to a residence on the 50's block of Lenox Road shortly before 10 p.m., following reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters faced heavy flames engulfing the front porch of a single-family home.

As the team deployed two hose lines to tackle the blaze, the intensity of the fire necessitated a second alarm call for additional manpower.

Heavy fire rapidly spread, reaching the attic and consuming much of the structure despite the efforts of the responding teams.

During the operation, one firefighter sustained a femur fracture, while another experienced chest pains, prompting immediate hospitalization for both.

Fortunately, the fire was brought under control by 11 p.m., and all occupants of the house managed to escape without serious injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
