A fast moving fire that broke out inside an unoccupied building in the city’s West Ward had firefighters on the scene this evening.
Crews responded to fire inside a three-story building located at 624 South Orange Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. where firefighters noticed fired coming from the upper floors of the building.
One person was treated for non-life threatening injuries and transported to the hospital.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze nder control in about a half hour.
Traffic was detoured in both directions on South Orange Avenue but there were no disruptions to highway traffic in the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway that is nearby.
Police detoured traffic on the off ramp of exit 144 (Speedway Avenue) to local streets.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
