Firefighters in Newark made fast work extinguishing a fire that ignited inside a house in the city's South Ward on Friday morning.
According to preliminary reports, firefighters rushed to 511 Clinton Avenue are receiving reports of a house fire shortly before 3:15 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews found flames coming from the second floor of a house with a small business on the bottom floor.
Newark firefighters were able to make their way inside the home, where they swiftly knocked down a fire that was isolated to the second floor.
A search of the residence for trapped and injured occupants came back negative.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
