Firefighters Evacuate Guests After Smoke Fills South Brunswick Hotel

Firefighters in Middlesex County responded to an emergency early Tuesday morning after a hotel in South Brunswick filled with smoke, prompting evacuations.

Following reports of a possible fire, emergency crews were dispatched to the DoubleTree hotel at 4355 US-1 just before 2:45 a.m. to the DoubleTree hotel, located at 4355 US-1. 

Upon arrival, firefighters found some guests had already made their way to the ground level, while others remained in their rooms as smoke continued to spread throughout the building.

Firefighters assisted in safely evacuating the remaining occupants.

Crews were able to isolate the smoke condition to the fifth floor, but as of 4:30 a.m., the source of the fire remained unclear. 

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the incident remains under active investigation as officials work to determine what caused the hazardous conditions.
