Firefighters Contain Blaze Involving NJ Transit Buses in Newark

Newark firefighters quickly responded to a large fire involving two NJ Transit buses on Tuesday evening, according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda.supportThe fire was reported at approximately 6:24 p.m. at the NJ Transit bus parking lot located near Wilson Avenue and Avenue P. When firefighters arrived, they found two buses fully engulfed in flames.  

Crews worked efficiently to bring the fire under control, with the blaze officially contained by 6:50 p.m.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and no passengers were on the buses at the time of the fire.  At least one other bus suffered some damage. 

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.

Officials confirmed that the NJ Transit Police are leading the inquiry into what triggered the blaze.  

The quick response by the Newark Fire Department helped prevent the fire from spreading to other vehicles or surrounding structures, ensuring the safety of the area.
