Fire officials in Scotch Plains are investigating a two-alarm fire that destroyed a house in the city overnight.
The two-alarm blaze ignited a house in the 20's block of Winchester Drive Drive shortly before 1 a.m. sending firefighters from several municipalities to the scene where they arrived to find the two-story wood framed house heavily engulfed in fire.
Heavy fire ripping through the roof of the structure had firefighters resort to an exterior attack to prevent extensions to nearby homes.
A search of the house for trapped and injured occupants was negative.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
