Firefighters are on the scene of a two-alarm fire that ignited after lightning struck a house in Hillside at around 5:30 this morning.
Crews swiftly knocked down fire at 1425 Highland Avenue after arriving to find smoke coming from the roof of the house according to on the scene reports.
Police and firefighters assisted in evacuating the house that was occupied by a woman and a dog who just moved into their new home a short time ago.
A search of the structure had no injured or trapped occupants.
EMS evaluated a police officer for smoke inhalation.
