Firefighters in Hudson County battled a multi-alarm fire that ignited in a section of Jersey City early Wednesday morning.
According to preliminary reports, crews were called to the vicinity of 482 Mercer Street after receiving reports of a car fire near a row of homes shortly before 3:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews observed at least two vehicles heavily involved in flames at that location.
Fire offcials say the blaze extended to two homes and swiftly began to engulf the structures.
Firefighters were able to get the flames knocked down in a short amount of time, but not before the blaze caused significant dame to the house. Offcials say 10 residents were displaced.
A search of the house and vehicle indicated no trapped or injured occupants and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
