Firefighters Battle Garage Fire in Newark's South Ward

Fire officials are investigating the official cause of a fire that ignited and destroyed a garage in the city's South Ward on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to a residence on Clinton Avenue and 13th Street where they observed a heavily involved garage fire with a vehicle inside.

Heavy flames extended to another garage at 374 South 13th Street causing extensive damage according to officials.

It took firefighters less than a half-hour to extinguished the blaze with one firefighter reportedly suffering minor burns to his hand.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
