Firefighters in Carlstadt and several assisting municipalities battled a raging brush fire overnight in the Meadowlands.
According to fire officials, for the first time in many years, a massive fire roared through the Meadowlands in Carlstadt and Moonachie sending crews to the scene where flames were visible for miles.
Officials said the fire started at about 10:30 p.m. and quickly escalated to a third alarm bringing fire units from multiple southern Bergen County fire companies to battle the flames.
Strong winds pushed the fire southward as firefighters worked to successfully protect all the buildings that were threatened by the blaze.
By 2:00 a.m., crews were able to contain much of the fire but noticeable pockets of remained.
There were no serious injuries reported.
The official cause is under investigation.
