The American Red Cross were called to the scene to displaced about a dozen residents affected by a fire that destroyed their home in Jersey City Saturday morning.
According to fire officials, crews were dispatched to the 100 block of Claremont Avenue to investigate reports of a residential die at approximately 2 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and flames coming from a three-story wood-framed house, according to officials.
Crews stretched several lines to began tackling the fire that extended up into the cockloft of the building.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in under an hour and a search of the home indicated no trapped or injured occupants.
The cause if under investigation.
