Several animals were rescued while firefighters battled a multi-alarm fire that broke out inside a house in Newark's North Ward Monday night.
Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in the 40's block of Oriental Street shortly before 10:10 p.m.
Upon arrival, crews found a three-story wood-framed attached condo fully involved in flames with possible individuals trapped.
Firefighters stretched multiple lines while flames began to extend to neighboring homes.
Crews fought a heavy fire that engulfed both sides of the townhouse, but no victims were found after firefighters entered the home.
At least one dog and a cat were rescued from the burning building.
The fire was brought under control in about an hour, with the cause under investigation.
