Firefighters in Newark and East Orange Battled a raging fire that tore through a building on the border ro both towns early Thursday morning.
Several 911 calls alerted firefighters of a fire that broke out inside a vacant three-story multi-family building located in the 30's block of Chelsea at around 2:35 a.m.
Crews arriving at the scene found heavy smoke billowing from the building with flames engulfing a portion of the structure.
Firefighters gained control of the blaze at around 3:05 a.m. as they continued to extinguish hot spots up until 4 a.m.
There were no reports of injuries.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the East Orange Fire Department.
