Fire in Newark High-Rise Injures Woman

Firefighters swiftly extinguished a fire that ignited inside a high-rise building in Newark overnight.

The fast-moving fire was reported at around midnight at 46 Evergreen Avenue where firefighters located the blaze inside an apartment on the second floor of the building.

Crews made entry into the building where they found the victim suffering burns according to reports.

The victim was transported to the hospital where her injuries were not reported as life threatening.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about a half hour with no other injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
