On Sunday morning, a fire broke out in a duplex on Seaman Street in New Brunswick, leading to the displacement of about 24 residents.
Firefighters responded to the emergency call at 170-172 Seaman Street, which came in around 3:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, police crews observed smoke coming from a third-floor window of the duplex.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, fire officials immediately escalated the response by striking a second alarm, calling for additional manpower.
Firefighting crews stretched lines to effectively get water into the blaze.
A thorough check of the building revealed no serious injuries among the residents. Crews had not brought the fire under control before 5 a.m.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to provide assistance to the displaced residents, offering support and temporary relocation aid.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
