An early morning raging fire destroyed a multi-family brick building in Newark's North Ward.
Firefighters raced to the scene after receiving reports of a fire that broke out at around 1:30 a.m. in the 600 block of North 6th Street at Davenport Avenue with possible trapped occupants inside.
Crews arrived to the scene to find the three-story building heavily engulfed in flames on the second and third levels.
A search of the building had no injured victims inside according to firefighters.
According to residents in the area, the building was occupied by squatters on some occasions
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
