Fire Destroys Linden Fire Department Recruit's Home; Family Dogs Killed

Linden New Jersey

Fire tore through a house on Hayes Avenue Saturday morning, killing two dogs and destroying the Linden home.

Crews responded to a structure fire at 222 Hayes Avenue Saturday just before 8 a.m.

Upon arrival firefighters found a fully involved house fire. They made quick work and knocked down the fire with an exterior attack.

Unfortunately, this was home of a Linden Fire Department recruit and a Linden employee.

Thankfully no one was injured but they lost everything including their two dogs that alerted them to the fire, enabling them to get out in time and saving them.

Linden received mutual aid at the fire scene from Rahway, Elizabeth and Roselle, and covering the City during the fire was Garwood, Cranford and Clark.

The fire is still under investigation but is not considered suspicious.

"Our prayers go out to the family getting through this difficult time," Fire Department Administrator, Mathew J Pribish said.

The American Red Cross has assisted the displaced family by temporarily putting them up in a hotel to get them by for now.
