Union Township Fire Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a house this afternoon.
Officials said at 12:47 p.m. today, crews responded to a signal 11 at 1964 Williams St for a report of a deck on fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a structure fire, with fire in the rear of the house extending into the first and second floors.
Crews utilized four hand lines to extinguish the fire and had to call a mutual aid Engine and Truck to the scene due to the extended amount of overhaul needed.
According to fire officials, The Red Cross was called to relocate seven residents. A cover assignment was called.
During the incident, Springfield Engine responded to RT78 for a crash with injuries.
Roselle Truck, Linden Engine, and Hillside Engine responded in front of Kean University on Morris Ave for a crash with a rollover.
