Firefighters in Newark battled a raging two-alarm fire that tore through a historic building in Newark's Lincoln Park section of the city on Monday evening.
According to preliminary reports, firefighters raced to 37 Lincoln Park to investigate reports of a fire with possible trapped occupants at around 9:25 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found flames shooting from the second and third floors of the three-story brownstone building.
Firefighters stretched several lines and fire raced up the building's cockloft then through the roof according to reports.
Crews were able to make their way into the structure where a search indicated no trapped or injured occupants.
It took firefighters about an hour to place the fire under control with the cause under investigation.
