Irvington Township and South Orange assisted Maplewood firefighters battle a two-alarm fire that damaged a store in Maplewood this morning.
The fast moving fire ignited inside 1865 Springfield Avenue before 8:30 a.m. had firefighters beat down flames that were observed extending from the establishment.
Crews were able to gain control of the blaze on about a half hour with no injuries reported.
Police closed Springfield Avenue from Prospect Avenue to Yale in both directions for the operation which caused heavy traffic.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
