The cause of Monday night's fire at a trash transfer station in South Plainfield is under investigation after it left a firefighter suffering minor injuries.
According to officials, crews responded to Sakoutis Brothers Disposal around 7:45 p.m, after several large piles of garbage caught fire.
The stubborn fire was placed under control by approximately 1 a.m., officials added.
Although no one was in the building, a firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
