Fatal Injuries for Two Pedestrians Struck by Police Car on the NJ Turnpike in Ridgefield

An investigation is underway into a accident involving a police cruiser that left two people dead on the NJ Turnpike in Ridgefield early this morning. 

The incident occurred at around 1 a.m. on the northbound side of the turnpike just north of the Vince Lombardi Service station. It is not immediately known what police department was involved in the accident. The victims were reportedly from a disabled vehicle on the highway. The victims were only identified as a male victim around the age 41-years-old and a female victim around the age of 25-years-old. A preliminary investigation revealed that the victims may have ben New York residents.  

Expect heavy delays and detours northbound on the eastern spur.
