NJ Transit officials are investigating a train strike that left a trespasser dead Wednesday afternoon in Elizabeth.
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. near the North Elizabeth Station where emergency responder arrived at the scene to find Pedro Beato-Deleon, of Elizabeth, struck by a train.
He was pronounced dead at the location.
NJ Transit officials suspended NEC & NJCL service in both directions between Elizabeth and Newark Penn Station for approximately one hour.
The incident remains under investigation.
