NJ State officials are reporting fatal injuries for at least one person involved in a crash on a highway in Newark Saturday.
NJ State Police officials said the crash occurred at 3:29 a.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike inner roadway northbound in Newark.
According to officials, the preliminary investigation indicated that in the area of milepost 104.7, a Ford F-150 ran off the right side of the roadway, struck the guardrail, crossed the roadway and slammed into the left concrete barrier.
The driver of the Ford sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene NJ State Police officials said.
The left two lanes of the inner roadway were closed for approximately 3 hours.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
