NJ State Police officials have launched an investigation into a crash that caused fatal injuries on a highway in Middlesex County Sunday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of a crash with injuries in the southbound lanes of I-287 near mile marker 4.6 around 12:25 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene found a severely damaged crashed vehicle with occupants trapped inside at that location.
At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene and as many as two others suffered serious to life-threatening injuries due to the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
