A pedestrian struck by a vehicle early this morning in Bloomfield has died.
Details regarding the incident are still developing but a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed a male victim fatally struck by a vehicle on Broad Street in the vicinity of the International House of Pancakes at around 6:15 a.m.
Witnesses on the scene said that the driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and appeared emotionally distraught after striking the man.
"We are awaiting further information regarding the incident and will release as it becomes available" the spokes person said.
Bloomfield Police closed off a portion of Broad Street to traffic for several hours.
