Police initially reported severe injuries for a gunshot victim in Jersey City Saturday.
The early morning shooting happed around 3:05 a.m. in the vicinity of 22 Brinkerhoff Street.
Police say officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area and when they arrived, they found an unconscious, unresponsive, and severely injured male at that location.
According to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, the victim was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where the victim's condition was reported as life-threatening then fatal.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office was called to the scene to investigate.
According to police, the suspect fled the scene and is at large.
There were no other injuries reported.
